Full-time Job Title: Support Worker (Day Opportunities)
Location: Carlisle, Cumbria
Salary: £12.82 per hour
Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week + optional overtime
Shift Pattern: 8:00am – 8:00pm, Monday to Sunday (rota basis)
Contract Type: Permanent
Service Type: Non-personal care – Day Opportunities
About the Role
We are recruiting Support Workers to join our Carlisle team under the Cumberland Day Opportunities Framework. This role focuses on supporting adults with learning disabilities, autism and mental health needs through structured daytime activities, community access and independence-building programmes. No personal care is required in this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide safe, person-centred support in day activity sessions
- Encourage independence, communication and life skills
- Support community participation, travel training and social engagement
- Deliver emotional encouragement and practical guidance
- Follow individual risk assessments and support plans
- Maintain accurate notes and record daily support outcomes
- Safeguard service users and follow reporting protocols
- Work collaboratively with team members and external professionals
Requirements
- Experience in health or social care preferred (not essential – training provided)
- Ability to motivate and support others
- Good communication skills and a caring attitude
- Able to commute within Carlisle area
- Female applicants preferred due to service user needs
- Drivers preferred but not essential
